Attaching work to portfolio

Hey guys.

What would you recommend as the best option for attaching work samples to a portfolio website? Or, simply attaching "website prototypes" to the portfolio, without actually buying a domain for said prototype website? In the introductory courses for Front End Development, Nick helps create a portfolio, but this portfolio is for images. I would like to be able to show the samples of the webpages (real and fake) that I have built.

You could take screenshots of some of the coolest parts of the real and "fake" sites. Then you'd just be creating an image portfolio. You could extend this by linking to the sites (you could try hosting your "fake" sites in a subdomain to have a place to link to for them).

Let us know what approach you end up taking!

Thanks Jeff! I definitely want the interactive aspects of my prototype websites to remain functional... so I guess this will be a learning experience. Your input is greatly appreciated. I will let you know once I finally succumb to paying for a domain for my portfolio. lol.

UPDATE....

Totally doing this. I didn't realize Github can host static webpages for free. BOOM!
