Auto Insurance Website with quote calculator

Hi. Does anyone one know what's involved in building a website that provides quotes for auto insurance from various agencies...So, visitors will enter personal information including their car make and model, and receive maybe the top 5 quotes from different companies...How is this done...see here http://www.compare.com/

Thanks!

They are an insurance broker, and so to start, you'd need to see what is involved in starting an insurance brokerage firm. I have no idea personally, but I'm sure the information is out there.

Once you have your brokerage company set up, I'm sure that insurance company you represent gives you an API access point, so when someone comes onto your brokerage site, and enters their information, you can bundle that up, make an API call to each of the insurance companies, and they return to you their insurance rates/details, which you display on the website.
