Automated web pages?

Ok, I will try to explain this as simple as I can.

Lets say that a person goes to a website (facebook, youtube, craigslist) and when they sign up, where does the new profile get created it? The profile already exist or is automatically created?

What about with craigslist, when a person wants to post a new item to sell, does the page already exist without content, or is it automatically created?

What programming languages are used?

I hope these questions make sense. Thanks!

Hey! Check out this answer: http://www.quora.com/What-language-is-Facebook-written-in, it gives you a great overview over how a website like Facebook is built. It's basically a dynamically website where content is being added to their database as people sign up, and then the website pulls this information from the database to show people's profiles etc. Hope this makes sense, good luck! :-)

I'm sorry, but didn't answer my question.
