Badges..

I'm just curious about the leader boards, i know that badges are meant to track your personal growth but i realize that there are leader boards as well. Are they just there to acknowledge people who are at the top of there game, or do you actually rewarded for being at the top of the leader boards?

As far as I'm aware Reggie Sibley, they are just to acknowledge those who have poured their effort into learning and helping others.
