Before we used (getString(R.string.key_name)); and now we are using (R.string.page0)?

before we used (getString(R.string.key_name)); to access a value from sting file and now we are using 

    pages[0].setTextId(R.string.page0);

why? if now we use getString(R.string.page0) this creates an erorr.

please help and explain
