Beginning JavaScript

I'm a total newbie to JavaScript.. Does anyone have suggestions about how to approach learning the more abstract concepts?

I'd say all JavaScript concepts are "abstract", really. Treehouse's JavaScript course is good. There are tons of others, and everybody has their pet preference.

The best advice I can give you? Just start. Go to Treehouse's course and just start watching videos, coding along, and completing the course. Then, you'll have a better understanding of where the gaps are in your knowledge. What really helped me was attempting to build a web app after completing the Treehouse course. I highly recommend it.
