Besides Photoshop does anyone have any free software which can be used to design screens for Android Apps?

I want to design my own screens or design the screens that I see team Treehouse is using to design their own screens for apps. Does anyone have any suggestions for what could be used to make these screen?

"Gimp" is open-source and is very similar to Photoshop, and it's free. It can be downloaded here. I personally haven't used it (I have Photoshop), but I have heard that it is very similar and very useful.
