I did a search through different Wordpress books online and at the bookstore. The one with the best ratings and that seemed the most comprehensive for theme development was Professional WordPress: Design and Development by Brad Williams, David Damstra, and Hal Stern.

My goal is to finish the track I am on before I move on to the WordPress track, so I haven't opened this book yet to see if it is truly helpful, but it's the one I purchased. The content seems decent and it should be good for reference if anything :)
