Best language for Rest APIs

I'm looking for recommendations on the best language to use and what content to look at on Tree house to get quickly up-to-speed on APIs. My use case is that I have a REST API exposed to me for an application and I need to begin pulling data from it and posting to it.

I'm very familiar with HTML, CSS, and SQL
