best way to build a social networking site?

i want to create a social networking site for geeks just for fun. kindly advice me a server side language capable of handling heavy traffic and other stuff i will need to build this project. I will be highly thankful if u can explain your opinion on this in detail

Firstly I recommend checking out the course in Flask on building a social network! It will definitely give you a firm foundation for a large scale network if it isn't right for you!
