Best webshop CMS platform

Hello T-Housers,

Today a friend of mine approached me because he knew I am capable of making websites and his aunt wants a webstore for her existing store. He told me she's pretty primary with computers and internet so I'm going to need a CMS which is easy to understand and use.

I'm wondering, for the ones that have been already working with a webshop CMS and could tell me what's best to use. A big pre would be if it's easy (or atleast possible) to design my own theme / template for the shop.

Thanks!

Have a look at the eCommerce platform Magento (http://magento.com/)

Takes a little while to get used to, but I found it's the most customizable platform out there. If you are having trouble with the theme there are forums out there that can help you out otherwise you could purchase a pre-made theme for a reasonable price on http://themeforest.net.

I hope I helped you out!

I tend to use Shopify as they handle the security and hosting for the store so I can just design it. You can design a theme from scratch or customize a free/paid theme. There is also a partner program where you can earn an ongoing referral fee for setting up the store.

Shopify also has great documentation for your client to learn to use the store. All plans include unlimited support for your client by phone, live chat or email. If you think your friend's aunt is going to need a lot of help then the support available from Shopify should save you a lot of time as they will help her to learn to use it.

This link shows 13 of the best e-commerce solutions available, it all depends what she will be selling through the storefront, some of the websites cater to a niche more than others so that could be important when making your decision.

Tictail is nice. Take a look around on their web site, maybe something that fits your needs.
