Blog Previewer: Getting Values from Form Fields

Why can't we use append method like this--

$("#flashMessage").hide();

$("#previewButton").on("click", function(){

const $title = $("#blogTitleInput").val();
const $content = $("blogContentInput").val();

$("#blogTitlePreview").append($title);
$("#blogContentPreview").append($content);

$("#flashMessage").slidDown().delay(3000).slideUp();

});

It very Ok to think so, but on the other hand the append method is popularly know for been used on List. So it would be near inappropriate to use such on an element. I hope you understand. (;
