General Discussion

Bug report: Leaderboards are posting the wrong points total for the top 10 students.

In the leaderboards, under "This Week" in the "Points Leaderboard", the top ten students all show they have earned double the points this week than they have total in their account. This makes it practically impossible to legitimately make the top 10. This happened last week too.

28 days and still no response? Did you ever hear back from the support team?

:point_right: And it's not just "This Week", it's even worse in "All Time".

Hey Stephen,

I did hear back, and they said the Devs are aware, but that's all I got.

I let them know that it is kind of discouraging to see those kind of numbers... even knowing they are not accurate.

Please send them another email. You should have got a response within a day or two...The automated one very quickly and then a human reply shortly after.

Now that it's been going on for at least 3 months, I sent in another report. I noted a few extra observations that might help pin down the bug.

It sure must be a tough one to find!

Ok, 3 more months, and I recently sent in another support message.

They say "it's in the queue"...

After yet another 3 months, the problem now has spread to the newer categories like Databases and C# which were previously unaffected.

I find myself affected now both ways. I'm at position 531 or so in catetegories where I should be at or near the top, and at position 3 in one category where I actually have only ONE point.

:loudspeaker: UPDATE: The leaderboards appear to be fixed.

As of yesterday, the problem affecting the leaderboards appears to have been resolved. :tada:

It is also doing it with the Badge Counts too. But, with those its showing 50+ when it's really only 3 or 4.

It's been report to the Support Team, so hopefully it will be resolved soon. :)

Oh ok thank you!

Why can't I give you best answer?

When the topic is "General Discussion," the up-voting and Best Answer functions are not available.

Thank-you though! :)

Ok, that makes sense, I guess there are no categories to add general points to anyway.

After 9 months, this problem still remains. I have inquired about the status of a fix every month or two, and someone in Support is always ready to "confirm it's still actively being worked on". Considering how this particular issue reflects badly on the site, and since web site skills are what is taught here, I really can't understand how this issue has not acquired a higher priority during the time it has remained unresolved.

My only guess is that this has never come to the attention of someone who both considers it important and has sufficient influence to make something happen.

I noticed that Matt Spiel and Ryan Wilke were both involved in the recent front-end design changes, I wonder if either of you might be able to help expedite this issue. Or perhaps you could bring it to the attention of the right person.

Thanks for letting us know about the issue, Steven Parker. I've done a little research and was able to find the issue is in our issue tracking system, and I've left a note with a few folks to see if they can make fixing this issue a higher priority. Thanks for being patient!
