Building a wordpress theme - where is the css file i need to copy????

Hi, I have just started the course 'Wordpress Theme Development'. I went through the first stage nice and easily. Now on the second stage of the course, 'Adding CSS to a Theme Via the functions.php File', he copies some code from another file and pastes it into the style sheet. Where can I find this code???? Its seems he has just jumped a huge step ahead and not told us where to get the code from, please can someone help :-(

Also the video previous to that one, called 'Porting Over Static Template CSS', I don't understand where to find the code to copy over here either...? Am I missing a big step somewhere?

If you ever have doubts in any video on what code he is using just scroll down and look below the video for the project files and download them. Inside you will find all the files and code he went through in the video.
