Bullets still showing after list-style:none

i followed every step the instructor said and wrote code as follows:

index.html:

<ul id="gallery"><li><a href="img/numbers-01.jpg"><img src="img/numbers-01.jpg" alt=""> <p>Experimentation with color and texture.</p></a></li>

main.css:

gallery {

list-style: none; }

However there is still showing bulletpoint in front of my image. I couldnt figure out why. Please help. Thanks

Don't forget the hash character or the pound (#) sign before the id "gallery" in the CSS code.

#gallery {
  list-style: none;
}

I hope that will fix your problem! :)
