Can I update wordpress theme directly?

Can I update wordpress theme directly? Or do I need to do something else to make sure my website works properly after updating/upgrading to new version?

What do you want to change Sundeep? If you're upgrading the best thing to do first is take a backup of your current theme and the database in case there's a problem after you've upgraded.

How to take backup? Where I can I find these steps? Because I cannot understand steps mentioned on wordpress.

Thanks for commenting Ben

Is your website hosted or is it on your computer?

It is hosted. I bought the domain from hostingforstudents.com

OK, you should be able to ask your hosting company for details on how to backup your Wordpress site. Generally speaking, it's quite simple to do. I use a plugin called 'Duplicator' if I need to do a really quick transfer of a WordPress site. it copies the whole site in just a couple of minutes.

You can download it here, or in your wordpress admin area:

Thank You Ben
