Can I use Google fonts and other open source code for commercial products that I might profit from?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I was wondering if it is OK to use google fonts on commercial products. I want to submit a few email templates to themeforest but I am not sure if it is 100% legal to use any open source code. I read all of the terms of use for envato and google fonts and did not find anything that says it's not OK.

I just want a bit more advice on this to make sure there are no loopholes I might have missed. Any resources are appreciated.

Yes, Google fonts are all licensed for commercial use under the SIL Open Font License, which allows anyone to use them -- for personal AND commercial projects -- free and clear.

Thank you so much!

No problem, Rachel. Have fun on your templates.

For anyone else reading, you can confirm my answer on Google's own page about its fonts.

Also, re: other open source software, they are always bundled with a license file that tells you exactly what is okay and not okay to do with the software. Usually they're totally fine to use in any project, commercial or not.

Thanks!
