I think I did it right. var inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName').value;

Hi Vladimir! Your code is good, this is the good way, but you didn't save the text input value. Please think how you can save it. You're near! :)

Challenge Task 1 of 2

Store the value of the text input element in the variable inputValue. (If you need a refresher on getting the value of a text input, this video from the previous section demonstrates how.)

let inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName');

Now the input say "You selected the element, but have not gotten the value."
