Can someone explain why this is not in the correct format?

SELECT street ||","||city||","||state||" "||zip||"."||country|| address FROM addresses

I'd need to see the question along with the answer you've given but my guess is you need to edit the concatenated string slightly

SELECT street ||", "||city||", "||state||" "||zip||". "||country|| address FROM addresses

This would ensure the returned addresses display a little clearer.
