Can someone please explain this clear function more in depth?

for example what is 'cls' and 'int' and what do they do?

def clear():
    if os.name=='int':
    os.system('cls')
   else:
    os.system('clear')

os is a package that has some code to run on various platforms. It checks what your platform is, and depending on which type it is, it runs a different command that does the same thing (because each platform might call the command something different).
