Can videos in objective-c track be used with swift?

I am currently in the swift development track but nowhere in here does the track ever talk about using a back end with the app and allowing things like user sign up or anything like that.

After I finish the swift track and want to learn the back end.. Do I jump over to the blog reader app course and then work my way up or do I have to know objective-c

Of course! It will definitely be easier if you know Objective-C, but you can usually get the main gist of what the code does.

The only Treehouse course I've seen that involves working with your own backend uses Parse, which uses an Objective-C framework for iOS. Don't worry though, you've probably been working with Objective-C frameworks in Swift already without realizing it (Cocoa touch).

Once you get started watching the videos, this blog post on the Parse blog might help you see how to structure your method calls.

Best of luck!
