cannot anawer question need help

adding span element inside .intro class? Doesn't make sense at all to me.

Hey !

the <span> tag is used only to style a line or a specific word from a paragraph. cause if you would want to style a word, you wont be able to select it since it is inside a paragraph, so you use <span> to determine that word you want to style. also you can put a class into your span tag, or even an id value

PS : I just gave you an exemple of a word, but you can use it for anything else !

As mentioned above, span is used to style an 'in-line' selection of words/elements in html. This often applies to words/numbers mid sentence that are otherwise un-target-able.

<header id="top" class="main-header"> <h1 class="title">Journey Through the <span>Sierra Nevada Mountains</span></h1> <h1>Lake Tahoe, California</h1> </header>

this would be an example of how it could be used in that situation, if you had a reason to target those specific words.

To style the <span> tag in the example code you gave above you would need to do the following.

      <p class="intro">

      </p>

.intro span {
  font-weight: bold;
  font-style: italic;
}

You had it the wrong way around....

"I want to style the <span> tag which sits inside the <p> with the class of intro. "

So its .intro span
