Cannot download Xcode project files

For some reason when I try to download the files, the files come unzipped but when I look at the type of file it says "Xcode document", which is different from when I open a real Xcode project where it says something like "Xcode project". Anyway, when I try to open it, it just asks me what program to use. I select "Xcode", but it NEVER OPENS. Please help me!
