Cannot resolve symbol ButterKnife when I try to bind().

I can't seem to resolve ButterKnife in

ButterKnife.bind(this)

Oddly enough, @BindView doesn't complain of any error. I am importing butterknife.BindView but have also tried importing butterknife.* to no avail. I've got version 8.4.0 of butterknife-compiler in the build.gradle file.

The problem was between the keyboard and chair, apparently. I had the compile line in the build.gradle file, but I was missing the annotationProcessor

In the end, I just added these to my gradle file:

compile 'com.jakewharton:butterknife:8.4.0'
annotationProcessor 'com.jakewharton:butterknife-compiler:8.4.0'
