Can't change list description with button and EventListener

I'm going through this task a second time for review, and I can't get my code to change the description via an input and button, as shown in the video.

Here is my JavaScript:

const descriptionInput = document.querySelector('input.description');
const descriptionP = document.querySelector('p.description');
const descriptionButton = document.querySelector('button.description');

descriptionButton.addEventListener('click', () => {
  p.textContent = input.value + ':';
});

And my html:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>JavaScript and the DOM</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css">
  </head>
  <body>
    <h1 id="myHeading">JavaScript and the DOM</h1>
    <p>Making a web page interactive</p>
    <button id="toggleList">Hide list</button>
    <div class="list">
      <p class="description">Things that are purple:</p>
      <input type="text" class="description">
      <button class="description">Change list description</button>
      <ul>
        <li>grapes</li>
        <li>amethyst</li>
        <li>lavender</li>
        <li>plums</li>
      </ul>
      <input type="text" class="addItemInput">
      <button class="addItemButton">Add item</button>
    </div>
    <script src="refresh.js"></script>
  </body>
</html>

Note that I did make a new .js file (and linked to it!) to practice. I have seen the new .js file successfully make changes to the html file, so I don't think linking is the issue.

Aha! I figured it out. I hadn't re-named the p and input within the formula, like I had when setting the variables.

const descriptionInput = document.querySelector('input.description');
const descriptionP = document.querySelector('p.description');
const descriptionButton = document.querySelector('button.description');

descriptionButton.addEventListener('click', () => {
  descriptionP.textContent = descriptionInput.value + ':';
});
