Can't downloading xcode

I have a Mac OS X 10.9.2 and can't download xcode through mac's app store. It looks like it's downloading and then after 30 minutes it quits. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

When you say it quits what exactly does it do? does it just stop? does it get canceled? do you get any errors? The download is over 2GB which is fairly large, so its not unusual that it takes a while to download if your download speed is on the low side. I would try it again and give it longer than 30 mins. it could take a few hours depending on your download speed

I did try to download it twice, but no luck. It gets to the size of the file (2.2GB I think) and then nothing happens. When I go to Launchpad, the Xcode icon is greyed out and it says "download not successful" or something like that. I think I need to change a setting on System Preferences that will allow me to install programs that take a long time. I'll check that out. Thanks, Stone. I appreciate your quick response.

I changed my Energy Saver setting under System Preferences to 3 hours. My mac was set to "sleep" after 10 minutes and the download was taking longer than that. I've just started the download so hopefully this will work. Thanks again.

That didn't work either. Weird. My husband and I have same MacBook Air with Mavericks, and he downloaded Xcode OK.

OK, just for the record, I needed to clear cookies in the app store and make disk space on my mac. Thanks again.
