Cant edit any properties in eclipse mac OSX?

I am at "Customising buttons and labels" ben goes in and edits the text size of the buttons, the colour and the margins. All of these properties are greyed out and are unable to edit. Is this a bug in eclipse for mac osx or have I done something wrong?
