diseases.rename(columns={'no_occurrences': 'number_of_occurrences'}, inplace=True)

So by reading the question I made the assumption that the method I was looking for would be one to update the data. I also looked at the arguments being passed in and looked for something that looked similar. Sometimes the method is simply what it is, renaming is called rename. Hope this helps you see how I work out how to find the stuff a bit better
