Can't Get Captions To Appear Below jQuery Light Box

Hi, I am not able to get my caption text which is taught in the Light Box course part 4 video. I copied the code and still it is not working. Thanks, Ron

//Problem: User when clicking on image goes to a dead end
//Solution: Create an overlay with the large image - Lightbox

var $overlay = $('<div id="overlay"></div>');
var $image = $("<img>");
var $caption = $("<p></p>");

//An image to overlay
$overlay.append($image);

//Add overlay
$overlay.append($caption);

$("body").append($overlay);
  //A caption

//Capture the click event on a link to an image
$("#imageGallery a").click(function(event){
  event.preventDefault();
  var imageLocation = $(this).attr("href");
  //Update overlay with the image linked in the link
  $image.attr("src", imageLocation);
  //Show the overlay.
  $overlay.show();

  //Get child's alt attribute and set caption
var captionText = $(this).children("img").attr("alt");
$caption.text(captionText);
});

//When overlay is clicked
$overlay.click(function(){
  //Hide the overlay
  $overlay.hide();
});

This is the code I have written.

do you have the html?

It's generally not a good idea to mark your own comment as best answer unless it really did solve your problem. It discourages other students from offering help, as your question will not appear on the unanswered questions list and will be marked as resolved.

In reference to your problem, you code seems to be working as expected for me. I am using Firefox on OSX, for reference. Try using a different browser, or clearing your cache and refreshing. If that doesn't resolve your issues, please post what browser and OS you're working on as well as any other troubleshooting information, such as errors.

Happy coding!

Hi, The problem has been fixed. It was a version thing so the answer has been solved. If you want I can put the best answer thing on your post. Thanks.

Glad to hear it worked out. Don't worry about the answer tag, it was just a tip to keep in mind. Have fun with jQuery! :)
