Can't get this to work. In general I feel that the challenges are a bit too sparsely detailed.

As per the lesson before: while ($row = $results->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { $item[$row["genre_id"]][] = $row["genre"]; } return $item["genres"];

Doesn't work. No idea where to go next.

index.php
<?php

include "helper.php";
while ($row = $results->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) {
        $item[$row["genre_id"]][] = $row["genre"];
    }
    return $item["genres"];

/*
 * helper contains the following variables:
 * $item is an array that contains details about the library item
 * $results is a PDOstatement object with our genre results.
 */

You're close, but you haven't created a "genres" array key for $item in your example. Try something like:

$item["genres"][$row["genre_id"]][] = $row["genre"];
