When i follow the step it says my version is 1.8.0_101 luckly i spotted it with my eagle eye but just in case could it possible be a virus if it's not craigs version?

Here is the Java Developer's Kit which you would need to program code in Java.

You can certainly accept any updates that Java asks you to do while in the install process. Any link from Craig can be trusted. But I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, I hope this helps.
