  console.log(saying);

the print out in the console seems to be ok, but still i get the feedback unshift is not used and the array doesn't include firstWord. Anybody got a clue what i do wrong?

With the quotes, you're inserting the string "firstWord", not the variable firstWord

It seems to work if I remove the "" out of the code, than it accepts the input.
