Cant pass the authentication stage

I know my password and user name in git but it will not let me push an existing repository using the command line keeps saying that either my password or my username is invalid.

i even changed my password and used the new password i created to see if that would fix it, but no luck there either?

I know I've run into a similar problem when I cloned someone else's github repo, because github won't let you push up a repository that belongs to someone else. If you can tell me the exact error you're getting, and tell me more about the repo, I will try to help!
