It's "String" with a capitalized first letter, not "string". Don't worry, you'll have a lot of those annoying moments in the beginning, but in a few months you'll know these little details in your sleep!

Livia is correct. It should look like this. String firstName = "David"; make sure to use your spacebar as well.
