Can't resize text area

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't seem to resize any text area I can only move it.

Could you give a little context? Is this in Illustrator or are you coding it?

Its in illustrator but it's ok I've solved it now I just had the border box hidden. Thanks anyway
