Can't retrieve photo download

I downloaded photos from my galaxy s8 phone for my profile. Download completed but can't find the photos. I did a 'This PC' search and they're nowhere, man. I tried downloading again and a notice popped up stating there are no photos in my phone to download. I'm on a dell laptop w windows 10
