Cascade and media queries - does it work differently?

Hey folks,

I've been doing some building after working through various parts of the responsive design content and I've noticed that the cascade doesn't seem to work as expected with media queries. I normally 'trim' my code pretty hard after I've got it working but when I did this recently with queries it completely broke the design. Am I missing something?

by trim you mean minimising? it should work in theory, i dont see a reason why it wouldnt..
