Center content on the page

How to center align content of a web page and fix a layout for all the browsers.

Various elements float around the page, but nothing in right direction , or as desired. So how to have a better control on layout, i.e. center, left, right of <div> tag. The layout varies when user changes resolution.

Here's a very basic demo, it centers content vertically and horizontally in a container, even for dynamically generated content which you don't the height of.
