why do I get this? it is correct but then when I answer challenge 2, it tells me it it incorrect?

Whenever, you get the error that a former task is no longer passing it means you have a syntax error. (i.e. you're missing a paranthesis, semi-colon, comma, etc.) Without seeing your mark up I can't offer you any other hints as to where you should look.
