change xcode storyboard background (can't see my viewcontrollers)

I wanted to see if there was a way to change the background of the storyboard editor. Do not confuse yourself with changing the text editor within xcode. I figured that out through preferences and colors. There are repositories on github that you can download which include thirdparty versions that really give you a lot of customization for your "text editors". I am talking about the storyboard background I am watching the self destructing app with Ben and he is using xcode 4 , his background is like a blue checkered pattern that makes seeing the view controllers so much easier.
