Changes to Tracks

Hi

Noticed this morning that a locking feature has been added to track navigation. Unfortunately I tend to jump around so this was a bit of a bump. I do realize I can just jump to the library but is there a way to navigate around the track menu or are we prevented from proceeding to anything with lock in front of it?

Could you also let me know where I can see announcements for these kinds of changes? I'm sure I just don't know where to look.

Thanks!

Mike

I got a notification about the change via an email I just noticed about fifteen minutes ago while looking for something else. lol

Hi Mike,

They sent an e-mail out "Tracks, reimagined! " to announce the changes, but I haven't seen much explanation to the thinking behind the changes.

If a module is locked in the track then you need need to go and look it up in the library.

It appears that they have decided to make tracks proper programs that they expect you to follow from start to finish. Or you can still use the site by jumping around the library.

I don't like this either. Like the idea however, but not the fact that I somewhat get the feeling being 'locked' out of certain content while I paid... I want easy access to everything! But if we can still access the whole library then it will be somewhat OK. They have to understand: their are users of different levels. I don't want to do every (sub) course, some of the basic stuff I already know I would skip it. Also I didn't receive an email...

It may be worth checking your Email Notifications settings, under account settings.

Thanks @bothxp I guess it was the notifications settings.

I like the schedule feature however. Great work, I guess I will have to get used to it.

Ok thanks guys. Likely have the message too.

Not the end of the world but definitely not a fan of the locking function!

The locking function doesn't bother me. Certainly as long as you can still access the stages via the library. The tracks follow a clear step-by-step structure and in my opinion a good one. It's change, people, it happens. :)

Check out the tracks, reimagined thread to read all about the changes and reasoning behind them, the thread is quite through.

Thanks James. Appreciate the effort. I don't think anybody was angry with the overall design change just that the change control wasn't all that effective because many of us for many reason don't look at team treehouse email much.

Thanks!

Mike
