HTML HTML Forms Choosing Options Checkboxes

Checkboxes with limited number of possible selections?

There are forms (like surveys) that have checkboxes but with a limited number of selections you can make (e.g "Select up to three __"). Can this be done with HTML?

You wouldn't be able to do this with just HTML, you would need a separate script that keeps track of how many selections have been made and prevent the user from going above the maximum allowed.

You could do that part with JavaScript, and if it's part of a larger form, you'd also benefit from learning form validation and processing on a server-side level.

Aaah makes sense to use JavaScript. Thank you!
