Choosing a github username.

Hi all,

I am just setting up my github account as per the ruby on rails introduction course. I am wondering what the best username would be? I would assume that one would want to use their real name in order to be professional and easily found. I am aspiring to be a software engineer and know that github is a good way to show what code one is capable of writing, so I want to pick a good name :)

Your real name or your Twitter handle are both good choices for a GitHub handle.

Thanks! I figured so, but I wanted to check. So just my real name as one word all lowercase-or does that matter?

Probably doesn't matter much. I believe my handle is first initial and last name, since my full name is a bit long. It might also depend on whether anyone else has the same handle.
