clear "vi data.csv" result, is there any short cut to go back to console?

After the instructor typed "vi data.csv" in the console, there was a long msg displayed for probably the content of data.csv, and then it seemed she used a shortcut to escape the long msg, and go back to the console where she continued tying second command, how did she do that? Is there a keyboard short cut? What does vi do?

Note that in the workshop Kenneth uses the vim command instead of vi, but they mean the same thing. Some computers call the command vim and others vi.
