Android Android Lists and Adapters (2015) Lists with RecyclerViews Creating a RecyclerView ViewHolder

Code challenge Null Pointer Exception

The code challenge task 3 for Recyclerview Android gave me this error "java.lang.NullPointerException (Look around JavaTester.java line 129)". There aren't even 129 lines of code in the program.

GameAdapter.java
public class GameAdapter extends RecyclerView.Adapter<GameAdapter.GameViewHolder> {

    private Game[] mGames;

    public GameAdapter(Game[] games) {
        mGames = games;
    }

    @Override
    public GameViewHolder onCreateViewHolder(ViewGroup parent, int viewType) {
        return null;
    }

    @Override
    public void onBindViewHolder(GameViewHolder holder, int position) {
        // code omitted for brevity
    }

    @Override
    public int getItemCount() {
        return 0;
    }

    /* Add your code here */
  public static class GameViewHolder extends RecyclerView.ViewHolder{
    public TextView mTitleLabel;

    public GameViewHolder(View view){
       super(view);
       mTitleLabel= (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.titleLabel);
    }
  }
}

So I found the answer , turns out that the GameViewHolder class should not be declared "static" and that solved the problem.
