Code Challenge: Question about Task 4

Why is it necessary to add 'div.footer' for the code to work? I had typed the code in the correct format but with just '.footer' and could not understand why it would not work. Does anyone know why?

In this case, since the element with the class of footer is the only element with that class, technically your code would work, but these code challenges do sometimes look for a very specific answer, and specifying the div in your selector effects the specifificity of the style. Because once you do that you tell the browser to a look for any divs with that specific class.

And if you read the challenge it is a div element it is looking for. :-)
