Python Python Collections (2016, retired 2019) Lists Disemvowel

coding Challenge

Challenge Task 1 of 1 OK, I need you to finish writing a function for me. The function disemvowel takes a single word as a parameter and then returns that word at the end.

I need you to make it so, inside of the function, all of the vowels ("a", "e", "i", "o", and "u") are removed from the word. Solve this however you want, it's totally up to you!

Oh, be sure to look for both uppercase and lowercase vowels!

the first part of the code given is:

def disemvowel(word):
     retrun word
disemvowel.py
def disemvowel(word):
    return word

There are a few ways to implement this challenge, so you have some choices. But one common way would be to use a loop to iterate through the list of vowels, and remove that letter (both cases of it) from the string. Then return the modified version instead of the original string.

Give it a shot, and write again (showing your code) if you still have trouble.

Hello steven... can you share your version of the answer... Thanks

def disemvowel(word):
    vowels =['a','e','i','o', 'u']
    new_word = ""
    for letter in word:
        if letter.lower() not in vowels:
            new_word += letter
    return new_word
