Hi,
For anyone that lives in UK, best, i have a situation.
Well, i live in UK. I'm just about to live on my own, i need more time to get anything fro. Websites at this moment. I'm 18on 6may, 4days left. So my plan is to get a normal low jobs. When working, quit college, i don't learn there anything anyways. I will study at home like i do, and hopefully, soon earn from websites for a bonus. I wanna go to Manchester uni which requires three AAA alevels minimum. I have none, not even gcse..I give my self three years. That includes maths and physics too. So I would quit college, job, study at home, and hopefully, later one, i would be able to live from freelance and quit the low job. What do you think about thi?
And anyone stories how they freelanced first? Nd when you got your first client after your freelanced?

10,763 PointsI think its a safer choice to learn a programming language and apply to a small tech studio where they feed you the work. at least, thats my plan. I don't know the job market in the UK, but in general everywhere, there are more tech positions open than qualified applicants and this situation has made companies more open minded to self taught people applying. freelance can be very hard work and the money has highs and lows.

10,763 Pointsits good to have an optimistic plan! aim for the full dream and goals you have, while being prepared for the worst. Keep a savings account and save part of your income from "low jobs". the problem with low jobs is that you will go through a lot of them becuase they tend to have many issues with the staff, company rules, etc. I tend to fall back on my savings everytime I switch jobs.
Like I said, I don't know the job market in the UK but a portfolio and works of code, like on github and stackoverflow is what you need.
acknowledge to your parents that you are taking a "calculated risk". you are "job training" with a plan! but be prepared to own your on life if you do your own plan. You need braces, well on your own you might not be able to afford braces. you might have to be a programmer with jacked up teeth! thats the kind of sacrifices people make in the real world. You can't ask mom and dad for money, if you're not going to go to college. because thats not fair to them.
In Amercia, the who college thing has completley failed millions of people. all the kids went to school for degrees that have bad job fields. so now they have student debt with a useless degree. college does not guarentee anything but debt!

2,435 PointsThe reason I'm moving out its about home issues: p. And iv been two years at college wasting time like really. My dream, as other people dream, can pass throw because of this as ppl say " you need a degree". I have braces on my self, and I'mm just about to take them off and have a transparent thingy. But I'm not sure if I quit college, i would have to pay for each visit which is a lot anyways.
I decided to take the responsibility and do what I really want to do. Main reason I want go to uni, it's just to ha è the student life mainly. But yet, i want go to a good uni anyways and meet ppl. Sure, you can meet ppl from Internet, developers, designers etc.. But it's not same as in uni if you know what I mean.
Well, the fact I'm learning all at my own, there's no other way I coukd learn.
My plan is also to make saving for 3-4 month so I can lock my self up and study not going out, just sitting and studding, like on freelance tips here. I hope i can get soon a Web job but yet, i don't know what it takes to go there, so I'm just learning log in, log out

I hope i can make the complicated big project of mine and start it as a business too. Mainly i want to do in real life programming and business. I found that cool and I'm pursuing it.
I don't understand why people say to me that I might find a career or start looking g what I want to do when I move our if I allready told them: p or that I do that e to be sure what I want to do: p these people, karate master and the girl are helping me now.
In 15days i learned more maths than in the whole year at college.. 15days alone with a pc. I I moved a grade up in these 15days. Not agree, two grades.. But to do a levels i have to re do it again: p
I don't know how the uni is, butt i believe they should help you one to one which should be extremely good as well as they should support students with anything I believe, i mean like business maybe or some project etc..
How the education even work, why is it soo bad, why people don't makee a proper inspection? I believe, money.. But I think school is iimportant, i took things from school that have helped me now. Like different mentality set.
This word it's just grrrr. I would be happy getting a treehouse teacher in real life: p i would learn something in a month that teachers, other teachers teach in a year: p well not oy me but everyone, as I read on internet and prev post of other ppl.

Im moving in cople of days out, so i will be living on my own which means i will need to find a low job like in bakery or somewhere. Im 18 on 6 may . I know how ot make static websites. Now im learning PHP and i can do simple magic , registration , simple etc.
I really dont care abot degree at university, because im gonna learn stuff anyways.. and i want to start my own business soon , i will anyways. If its in three months or three years. I want go to university because of people and social life mainly to be honest. I didnt really had any social life for 7 years, nor i do now . I just want go to university. Once we grow up from thta age, we got like another 60 years of adultery .. while its only 20-25 years of fun which mean i didnt even had any.. and as a kid, i dont care when im gonna be 40 years financiali independent because the age matters : p
Well, i was looking at some jobs on PHP, yet i dont even really know what i need to know , when i look at other developers, they somewhoe got the job, they work there, but yet, they never made a log in log out, register etc.. system.. so im like how the hell did they got to the job ? just with basics?
As i go living alone, and having a low job, i will want to quit college. Main reason ( i waste time there, plus the teachers cant teach.. just .. in not gonna go in deep with htis .. unless you want, i can prove you every single point, and since you know about technology, you will know it , rather spot it straight away :) ) I want to study at home and in three years i whould gain my academic subjects on AS2 to go to the uni i want. Meanwhile, thi year, i want to find a job that i can do with programming since i dont want to waste my time out there on the low jobs .
As said, I have in mind freelancing to support my self now, even if its just one per month for 200 pounds, that would be still a bit , quite a lot really .
But yet, i have braces too : p which i dont know if im gonna need to pay for them if i quit college. But what do you think about this? i mean , i do get negative talks from my mum etc. but i believe in my self and watchin some videso i saw that if im wasting time there, im jsut wasting it , never get it back, while i can shoot out now, i might not later one .. so i really want to quit college as i wasted there allready two years . And no , i dont interact with people , so it was a completley waste. I allways wait till i comeback to home and do what i really need to do . My days are basicsly crap . I just wait for that one moment , when i can earn off enoguh , to do whatever i want , meaning in programming fiels as in low jobs you wont be able to do whatever you want.
