Community: Drafts

Hi. I've had a thought. When writing a post, would it be a good idea to provide a "Save Draft" option, in case the author doesn't have time to write it in whole in one session? In my opinion, this would save the author time and spare him or her the inconvenience of having to write it out all over again. And it would enable the author to go over the post with a fine-tooth comb in case they want to edit it before posting.

I think that's a great idea. I wonder if there's potentially a way to just use HTML5 Local Storage so they don't have to reinvent their infrastructure in creating a drafts table or various statuses. This could than just happen automatically while you type. There have been several instances where I'm in the middle of a complex post to solve someone's problem and I accidentally swipe backwards and lose it all. Automatically saving to local storage would prevent this while having to write too much code to manage it on their end.

This could be a great thing!

Tim - From the Mod side, is it possible to make a thread with compiled feedback about features we would like to see or to improve?

Unfortunately not. What I'd suggest would be to email help@teamtreehouse.com with the suggestion. Sean Flanagan could link this thread in that conversation. Then the help team could direct his message to the team member responsible for working on the message boards.

Hi gentlemen. Tim, I've just emailed that email address and included a link to this thread. Thanks for that. :-)
