community or private?

Whats the difference between the community visual studio and the versions you can buy? Is it worth it?

1 Answer

To my knowledge there's really no difference between Visual Studio (VS) Community and Professional when it comes to features. It's just that according to their licensing/terms of use an organization over a certain number of employees must purchase VS Professional if they would like to sell the software they create with it.

VS Enterprise has a few more features but I believe they only really make a difference for huge organizations.

If you're just learning .NET development on team treehouse right now, community should be more than enough.

Here is a link that compares the different versions: https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/compare/
